Internet Connection Issues- Drops connection while using the internet
So I have been having issues with my internet connection. First it started with vista premium. I would be working on the internet and connected via a ethernet cord or wireless depending on where i am at school, then out of no where it says that im not connected to the internet anymore even though my computer says im still connected. I was told it was a problem with my Winsock and even though we reset it and removed the viruses it still would randomly crash like this. So I was told to go to Windows 7 Ultimate and they said my connection problems would be fix. But less than 24 hours it once again has started with the crash problem. It only happens once or twice a day and normally i restart my computer and it works fine again. Ive been researching for weeks and can not figure out what to do about this. Thank you for taking the time to read this

Drablnd, This really sounds like there is a problem with one of the network devices (i.e.-router, switches, firewall) between you and the internet, but let's make sure. Here are a couple points of clarification, and some simple tests. Have you tried to use this same PC on another network? What was the behavior? What do you mean you "reset" winsock? Did you have a virus on this machine? What type of ISP connection are you using? Here are some things to try when you get in this state: -ping your DG, and maybe "microsoft.com" (post those outputs) -Make sure you set the connection type to "Home" or "Work" -Boot into safe mode w/ networking and see if the connection drop If you need extra help, you can reach us at: InitialAssist@cbfive.com See my blogs at http://www.cbfive.com/blog - Jared Crandall

Hi, In addition, please also try the following: 1. Reinstall the driver of your network adapter and see if it works. If there is an updated Windows 7 driver for it, please just install it. 2. Boot the computer to Clean Boot environment to monitor the issue and check if it persists: How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7 Hope this helps.
