Internet Connection Help
I just upgraded my Sony Vaio VGN-TX750P from Windows XP to Windows 7 and I can't get on the internet at all. All of our other computers are working fine so I know it is not our network. There isn't even an option to connect wireless and when I try to connect with an ethernet cord it says "Error 651: The modem (or other connecting device) has reported an error" and won't connect at all. I know it is not my modem because I'm using my modem now with a different computer to post this. Please someone help me!!

What is your modem/wireless router? You may have to update the firmware on it to make that device Windows 7 compatible. A look at Sony's support site shows no Windows 7 drivers for your unit, only Vista as seen here http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=VGNTX750PB&SelectOS=29 which means you may have to install the Vista drivers in compatibility mode, instructions are here http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itprohardware/thread/80cae5ee-dc98-4a2f-8284-a1ab826059b7 Just because your modem works with one OS and different hardware, doesn't mean it'll work with a newer OS and its hardware.
