Internet (While Activating Norton or Flash Update) Won't Connect, Says No Internet Connection Even Though (Obviously) I'm Online
I've been searching high and low for an answer and haven't been able to find any solutions so here goes...I'm having the same issue with Norton as I am with a program like updating Adobe Flash, both saying "No Internet Connection." The main one I'm concerned about is the Norton one, getting that going. Same problem, different programs... obviously the variable doesn't lie within those programs.Something curious happened when I tried using Symantec's support... it tried to connect (again) to no avail, but it said it would check the IP files. Then it said it found a corrupt one, attempt to repair. It tried, then it just said it couldn't connect again. With that in mind, I then refreshed my IP using the Microsoft Fix-It tool. That didn't fix anything. (I've also tried activating with the firewall turned off.)Something seems to be blocking, filtering, or somehow firewalling what's let in or out...? I'm totally at a loss and have been working on this for hours, ready to give up. Anything with the Gateway...? Ugh, I dunno.------System; Dell Vostro 220, XP HomeInternet Provider; Comcast. This can happen sometimes if you have more than one Anti Virus Program on your computer. If you do uninstall one.

Hi RoninEditor,1. Since when are you facing this issue?2. Were there any changes made prior to this issue? In addition to fyip's response, you may try the below steps:Step 1:Check for the issue in ‘Safe Mode with Networking’.‘Safe Mode with Networking’ starts Windows in safe mode and includes the network drivers and services needed to access the Internet or other computers on your network.A description of the Safe Mode Boot options in Windows XP: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315222Step 2:If the issue does not persists in‘Safe Mode with Networking’, then you may put the computer in a clean boot state and check if the issue persists.a. Putting your system in clean boot state helps in identifying if any third party applications or startup items are causing the issue. b. Refer the following Microsoft KB article for more information on how to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in XP:How to configure Windows XP to start in a "clean boot" state?http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310353Note: After troubleshooting, make sure to put the computer to start as usual as mentioned under the section 'Steps to configure Windows to use a Normal startup state' in the above KB article.Regards,Manasa P – Microsoft Support.
