Hi, I am running windows 7 ultimate 64bit, laptop with 2 physical hard drives C: and E:, and use backup and restore tool provided with win 7. I have already done a system image and schedueled a files backup of one directory on E: drive where I have all my docs to an external dard drive G: Today, I trigered the backup tool, to my very surprise I got a blank screen at "Control Panel -> System and Security -> Backup and Restore " with a red circle inside of which there is a cross and a message AN INTERNAL ERROR has occured, The parameter is incorrect (0x80070057) When I unplug the hard drive, the backup tool interface comes back to life and I can click on change settings....... I read some threads in thgis forum and undertood that it might be a bad sector. I ran CHKDSK /R on the external hard drive, closed the backup and restore tool, triggered it again I got exactly the same error. Thanks for your help

I forgot to say that check disk indicated that there were no issues on the external hard drive

Go to Control Panel->”Clock, Language, and Region”->”Region and Language”->”Additional settings”. 2. Change the decimal symbol from “,” to “.” 3. Open an elevated cmd(search->cmd->right click->run as administrator). 4. C:\windows\system32> taskkill /f /im explorer.exe 5. The question may be marked as answered, but it doesn't work in my case. I'm still getting 80070057 when trying to create a system repair disc. I have tried and worked through or implemented all the suggested solutions and none seems to work. Any other answers? Odinary backup seems OK, it's just the cfreation of a system repair disc.Dave
