Intermittent Wi-Fi connectivity.
Hello, I have been having intermittent wifi outages on my laptop, and it doesnt seem to be happening on my other PC's in the household. I checked the system logs to see if I could find out why the outages were occurring. I noticed that there are quite a few DNS Client Events, each event was recorded exactly when I lost connectivity. Each of the events also lists a website it tried to connect to that it wasnt able to reach, but I never visited such sites today. Examples from the logs: Name resolution for the name www.reuters.com timed out after none of the configured DNS servers responded. Name resolution for the name plus.google.com timed out after none of the configured DNS servers responded. Name resolution for the name wmkesycwam.hot.rr.com timed out after none of the configured DNS servers responded. Name resolution for the name traejalguq.hot.rr.com timed out after none of the configured DNS servers responded. Name resolution for the name bkzwsxjfdq.hot.rr.com timed out after none of the configured DNS servers responded. Name resolution for the name asqceumvty.hot.rr.com timed out after none of the configured DNS servers responded. And the text from the first event: - System - Provider [ Name] Microsoft-Windows-DNS-Client [ Guid] {1C95126E-7EEA-49A9-A3FE-A378B03DDB4D} EventID 1014 Version 0 Level 3 Task 0 Opcode 0 Keywords 0x4000000000000000 - TimeCreated [ SystemTime] 2013-05-20T02:53:45.709177500Z EventRecordID 5742 Correlation - Execution [ ProcessID] 908 [ ThreadID] 3736 Channel System Computer Mike-PC - Security [ UserID] S-1-5-20 - EventData QueryName www.reuters.com AddressLength 16 Address 02000035D1122F3E0000000000000000 I checked the process ID, and it was tied to svchost.exe, but am unsure of why it would be visiting these random sites. I have run a few virus and malware checks and found nothing.

What is the difference in network parameters when comparin household and other sites? With network monitor*) you would discorer quickly where the problem is. My guess is that it is out of your computer, namely in DNS that you use outside your household. Rgds Milos *) Free Wireshark will do the job.
