Intermittent Network Error, shared folders disconnect, Error code: 0x80070035.
Since January after installed 7 beta, have been getting the error below. This has been happening on all installations of 7 beta and RC, on 32bit and 64bit. ------------------------------------- [Window Title]Network Error [Main Instruction]Windows cannot access \\BACKHOME-PC [Content]Check the spelling of the name. Otherwise, there might be a problem with your network. To try to identify and resolve network problems, click Diagnose. [^] Hide details [Diagnose] [Cancel] [Expanded Information]Error code: 0x80070035The network path was not found. ------------------------------------ By the time click Diagnose, network has reconnected and diagnose finds no problem. Happens when shared folders from other computer are open in this computer. Assume internet is affected, but this has been difficult to test. There are no logs at time of error. Homegroup connections, either setting makes no difference. Network discovery and file sharing On, Password protected sharing Off. Computer has been Named, and Workgroup has local workgroup name. Turned off Windows Firewall and Defender, separately. Have reset router to factory defaults. Power management on or off, no difference. Not happen on networked Vista. Installed another 7 in dual boot, did not install any third party anything, but network error still there. Please help, Doug.

I have the same error message when trying to connect to a share on Window NT4.0 server. I don't have any other issues connecting to Server 2003 or Server 2000 shares. All other networking features work fine. When I try to connect to the share \\AServer\Shared I get the error messageWindows cannot access \\AServer\SharedError code 0x80070035The network path was not found.I can ping the server via its name and IP address. I have disabled IPv6. I am close to insanity.

Thank you bueuwe for your reply, hope you getthis problem sorted out.Have continued testing, installed another copy of 7 in dual boot with my Vista. This allowed me to test the above, Windows 7 to Windows 7. Two full days no disconnects. The fickle finger is seriously pointing at Vista, so am in the wrong forum.Doug.

Can't believe I managed to find a thread on this issue! I have been having the exact same problem on my Windows 7 operated desktop machine which I have been sharing media with to my Vista operated laptop. The shared folder would just randomly disconnect somewhere between 15min to 1hour of sharing in the middle of a song or a movie... so annoying! Trouble shooting or a reboot seem to fix the issue each time. Anyway, I will try the method Pegasus9 suggested over the next few days and report back. On the whole Windows 7 seems to run much better than Vista so far, and after much testing I have only come across 2 problems in my day to day use. The first was the random network sharing disconnections mentioned above. But I have also found another error with external hard drive connections. For some reason Windows 7 doesn't recognize some of my external hard drives which work fine on my other computers with different platforms. The problem appears to be particularly with all eSata connected drives (hot swapping does not work at all) and also some 2.5" drives connected by USB2. Can't seem to find any threads on this. Anyone got any ideas??

Hi. Thanks for your posts, you may be interested in my findings. Continued testing the above. Did find that the disconnections happened every hour at the DHCP lease time. Noticed in Network and Sharing center was seeing "Identifying (Public Network)" and that would last for about a minute, The shared folders and the music i was playing would disconnect and stop playing. Tried extending the lease time in the router from 120mins to 480mins, but it still disconnected, after 4 hours. Decided to reinstall the Vista, but the problem still happened. Have now installed Windows 7 RC in place of the Vista, and this problem no longer happens. Doug.

Ok I have the exact problems, I have a WHS in which we the family have connections shares etc..when we were in the XP world, connections were sound.. installed windows 7 on my wifes machine and it was awesome, but then 15 minutes to an hour it lost connection with the infomous 0x80070035 error. thinking it was a fluke, I deceded to upgrade mine to windows 7 and see if the problem persists. I have XP images and backups of my orginal installs. anyway, rght after Installed windows 7, I could conect to my shares.. and wouldned you know it, I was disconnected with the same 0x800... error. (sigh)I have spent countless hours on the internet foloowing every sugesstion offerd.. and nothing.. however one suggestion seemed to work and that was to reboot my router. Waht do you know it fixed it.. well for at least 15 minutes.. Ok using that method worked twice.. and now I just can get a connection.. I went to my sons XP machine.. no problem connects like a charm. Ok I can ping and RDP to the server with the sahres no problem I just can access my shares?!?!?!?!? If I am to eventually move to windows 7, I sure would like to be asured that this is not a major problem. so far no one has been able to aswere this, some MS expert moderators even end up putting there foot in thier mouth (sigh). I just want an honest soution and not all thisbasic script reading. Iam a network Security administrator, so I think I know the basics.. anyway, anyone have an honest solution to waht appears to be an obvious problem with window 7 users.. anyone?

I've been having the same problem for months...I'm using Windows 7 RC7100 on a LAN with another Win7 computer and two XP computers. The Windows 7 machine periodically loses the computer names. i.e. I cannot accessanother computer with \\COMPNAME\ . Consequently all shared drives disconnect.Strangely, the other computers are still accessible using the IP address. For e.g: \\192.168.1.101\. Once I connect using the IP address, it quickly 'remembers' thecomputer nameand everything is back to normal (for the next 15-20 min or so).I've tried everything and am close to tearing my hair out! Once, I even got rid of the problem for a week or two. But then it came back!Firewall, DNS settings, DHCP timeout, homegroup, workgroup, network discovery, etc.. tried changing all...Still looking for a solution!

Well, I'm back to report that there must be a lot of bald people out there, because we're all pulling our hair out over this. Thank you for your suggestion Pegasus9, but leaving the HomeGroup didn't work at all. In fact, after leaving the HomeGroup and restarting, my wireless network connection was lost in a new record of 8 minutes!!!! To me this is a fundamental flaw and I have had it up to here (holds his hand high in the air) with Windows7. Nothing works for me! From sharing folders to reading my external Sata drive. Dare I say resource hogging Vista actually worked better than W7. I think I will roll back to Vista :-( BTW for those interested I am currently using W7 Build 7100 with latest updates.

Getting bald....Ok I tried a few more things.. I tried updating my NIC card driver.. nothing changed..I tried turning off the TCP/IPv6, this time I rebooted.. I had my shares back again.. but unfortunatley, after about 15 minutes they dissapered again.. Does anyone know why this is doing this. it seesm to be a cmmon occurance with Vista and Windows 7, yet I can not seem to find a comprehesive answer.. my company is thinking of rolling our windows 7 but I am afrined at this point I would have to object to it and remin with windows XP, loosing shares is not a good thing.. (sigh) I am still looking for a solution..

Ok I am anwsering my own post, finally.. anyway, i fell upon this site http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-CA/w7itpronetworking/thread/e55c44d0-668d-4a90-98d0-1aeed0b61df0it basically flagged my brain and Yes I use Threatfire, its awesome protection. but that sad thing is that the current version of Threatfire is not compatible with Windows 7. In any case I uninstalld it and rebooted.. ( i tried only suspending it in the past) al my shares came back, hours later they were still there. WEll I did not want to leave my syston unprotected from Threatfire, so recent reserch found that they just relesed a beta version for windows 7 (Vista 64it as well) I installed it and eveythjing has been perfect.. Shares are here.I tired all thoseother fixes and niothing and I am ashamed that all the countless days weeks lokking for a solutiion the so called experts would just point you to the vast fourum leaving you to ferret out more suggestons to look to other forums and no answer.. I was lossing faith. anyway, if this is not your issues I would re examineinot ay firewall /spyware /anti-virus prtection you have installed. completely uninstall them and reboot.. see whatt hapepns. Anyway I hope thie help someone.. anyway Beta version of threatfire installed and 24 hours later still have my shares and my protecton.. : )
