I have a weird issue happening intermittently with 3 out of 5 users we've switched over to new machines, running Windows 7 Professional 32bit. They were running Windows XP before that, on different machines. These 3 users have 3 drives mapped, but one of the drives (always the same one, S:\, is mapped, but does not show up in explorer. The S:\ is accessible via File >> Open S:, in all apps, even Internet Explorer 9, and CMD. If you type "net use" in CMD, the drive shows as it would if it were correctly mapped and working. However, if you open Windows Explorer or the run menu, and type in "S:" it says it's invalid. If you go to manually map the drive through Windows Explorer, it shows the mapping exists and prompts you to continue or cancel. When you continue and map anyway, it then shows up in windows explorer and works as it should. The DC is running Windows 2003 Server SP1. (NOT R2) -The drives are mapped via a vb script, not group policies. Link to Login Script: http://pastie.org/3824291 -Roaming Profiles were previously disabled on their XP machines (Re-Enabled on their new machines) The Windows 7 32bit Machines (Optiplex 990 with SSD's) are running Nod32 Business edition. I've tried the following things without success: 1. Force the computer to wait for the network use this GPO: Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Logon\ Always wait for the network at computer startup and logon. 2. EnableLinkedConnections 3. Disable Firewall software 4. Check to see if "nodrive" magically appeared in "\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer" 5. Logging into the trouble machines several times with an account with copied credentials. I cannot get it to break for me. Though the problem is totaly intermittent, so it's hard to know if it would.

Hi, According to your description, I assume that the explorer.exe may be running a different token with the other applications so that this happened. You may try to disable UAC to see whether it makes any difference. Juke Chou TechNet Community Support

Hi, You may use Process Explorer, double-click explorer entry=>Go to Security tab, then check the priviledges listed in it, if the token is split token, most of the priviledges will be removed. Juke Chou TechNet Community Support

Hello, I am having the same issues as Jason-IT, resolution seems to be to Kill the explorer process and re-launch. We are running windows xp sp3 and the problem appears to be more prevalent from one facility vs. all of our devices. The problem is also very intermittent, temporary solution has been to provide users with a script to restart explorer however it is a less than ideal solution. We are going to be moving to win7 shortly and I was previously hoping that this would resolve issues but it sounds like it may not. Thanks, Eric
