Intermittent Driver Loading - Wireless Card
I bought this Inspiron 545s desktop in November 2009 and this issue has persisted since that time. When I turn the machine on I usually have to restart two or three times before the driver will load for the DW1525 wireless card. The Event Manager shows that the driver starts to load but cannot see the DW1525 card, so the driver fails to initialize. After a couple of restarts everything works fine, the driver loads and the wireless card connects with no problem. I have the latest driver installed. The DW1525 uses an Atheros chip and the Windows 7 driver on the Dell site comes from Atheros. I think that the problem has something to do with the driver trying to load before the wireless card is ready to go. So I wonder about some way to delay the driver loading. Some utility to change the driver loading order so this driver loads last or loads after some time delay. Is there any way to do this?

Hi, Did you try to install the Wireless adapter driver for Windows Vista? Here are some suggestions you can try: 1. Uninstall the Wireless network adapter driver and install the driver for Windows Vista in Compatibility Mode instead for a test. If it does not work, please reinstall the latest one. 2. Temporarily disable firewall on the machine and restart the machine to check the result. 3. Temporarily disable the wireless network adapter and connect to Internet via wired cable. Does the issue still occur? If the issue still occurs, please upload the Event log to the Skydrive ( www.skydrive.live.com ). Collect Event log ========================= a. Click "Start", input "eventvwr" (without quotation marks) in the Start Search bar and press Enter. b. Right click on "Application" on the left frame, choose "Save Log file As"; in the pop-up window, click to choose the Desktop icon on the left frame, input "app" in the "File name" blank, and then click save. c. Right click on "System", with the same method, save it as "sys". d. Locate the two saved log files on the Desktop and upload them. Thanks, Novak

Hi Novak, This problem persists. Whenever the computer is started up after being powered off it has to be restarted 2-3 times before the driver for the wireless card will load. The errors suggest that the wireless card hardware has not had time to initialize before the driver goes to look for it. The driver fails to load, claiming that it cannot find the wireless card.
