Interesting bug in Vista and Windows 7
I have installed Vista OEM 64-bit version of Ultimate and build 7000.
I have tested this on both machines.
I wanted to press Control-Alt-Del when I needed to log in. No big deal to do this via control userpasswords2 in Vista and Windows 7.
I then rebooted and had to press Ctrl-ALT-Del to log in.
Then I wanted to do one more thing. I wanted to join a domain. That is ok to do. ( I have a Windows 2003 domain). But then I decided not to joind a domain. So I re-joined the workgroup. No big deal.
But why did the re-join to workgroup kill the press Ctrl-Alt-Del screen?
thanks

Hi DavidIt sounds like the most likely cause would be when you re-joined the system to the Workgroup, all of the default settings were returned to the defaults which would include disabling the CTRL+ALT+DEL option.
Hope this helps.
Thank You for testing Windows 7 Beta

I disagree.
If I sent Windows to force and Ctrl-ALT-Del usage on logon and that is the default behavior prior to joing a domain, then why does it change?
It doesn't make sense.

Hi David,
Yes, its a suggestion. Windows should backup your personal setting before joining domain. After re-joining to workgroup, Windows should restore personal setting on the computer.
I will report it to our internal team.
Thanks.
