Intel ICH7R/ 8R Raid Installation Disk
Hi everyone,I have a Abit AB9 Pro motherboard and four internal SATA drives I want to RAID 5. I have the latest Intel ICH7R/ 8R Raid driver for Vista x64 but Windows 7 doesn't seem to accept it when I custom install and try to browse for a driver. Does anyone know how I can RAID 5 my hard drives together? I'm new at this and would really appreciate it.Thanks

I'm not sure if you have been able to find an answer for this but I'm curious. I'm trying to solve this riddle for a friend but I have only Vista Ultimate 32-bit and Windows 7 64-bit RC1 to use. I was able to get it to install to both of those OSes but not in a RAID array.... :(

I am having the exact same issue. Even with the new Intel Raid Windows 7 beta drivers, windows 7 refuses to install on an active intel raid array. I find this extremely perplexing as you can install Windows XP (32 bit or 64 bit), and Vista (32 or 64 bit) on an intel raid array with no issues. I hope microsoft or intel caught this issue BEFORE it went to RTM, as there are hundreds of motherboard's on the market with intel raid chipsets. Here is the driver link for any who would like to try. http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&Inst=Yes&ProductID=3018&DwnldID=17714&strOSs=190&OSFullName=Windows%207,%2064-bit*&lang=eng You can only get to this link by choosing the Intel Desktop Board DX58SO, as for some reason, intel hasn't propagated the windows 7 drivers to other chipset/download locations yet.

I am currently running W7 RC on an Abit AB9 Pro motherboard. (4X400 SATA RAID5) You do not need the raid drivers to install, if you do try and use the F6 floppy method it will fail. Delete/Re-create your RAID5 array in the Ich8r bios (CTRL-I) at boot. Put your Win7 DVD in the drive and boot from it and install like normal. The ICH8r drivers are built in the setup already.
