Installing shortcuts and programs with a batch file.
I utilize batch files to install stand alone software and desktop icons for various applications. Normally, I would log in (I have admin rights). navigate to my network install folder and run the install batch. This works fine with Windows XP. We are currently testing Windows 7 for compatibility and I have found out that this process does not work so well with Windows 7. Know that folder locations have changed in Windows 7, I have modified the batch files accordingly. I am trying to create a folder in Program Files (x86) and copy to that folder as well as create shortcuts on the users\public\desktop and programdata\microsoft\windows\start menu\programs folder locations. When I run the batch, I get the standard "access denied" message regardless of how I run the batch (run or run as admin). If I open an elevated cmd window, I can navigate to the install folder and run the batch without any problem. This is unacceptable. My question is:How can I run the batch files without having to invoke an elevated cmd session? I just want to run the batch as admin to install the software. Thanks,Mike

Hi, Please right click the batch files and click “Run as administrator” option to check whether the file can be installed. Also, you can open the file’s Properties and switch to “Compatibility” tab, and then select the option “Run this program as an administrator” option. Thanks, Novak
