Installing Windows 7 over Ubuntu
Hi All, I have made the mistake of installing Linux Ubuntu on my PC. I have not made any partitions on the hard drive. Now I want to get rid of it completely and install Windows 7. When I try to do a clean install of Windows with my CD, it says that Ubuntu has made a partition on my hard drive. Windows will not allow me to install on either of the partitions. I have no data on there that I need so I am happy to lose everything if I can just get rid of Ubuntu. Any advice? Liam

Windows 7 setup should give you the option to delete the partition and set up a new one.

Interesting - I have done the same as you. Installed Ubuntu and reinstalled Windows 7 over it. I have deleted all Ubuntu partitions and created new ones. There another workaround: Because of UBUNTU works with grub that may change the master boot table, there is a simple way how to "visualize" disk by fdisk /MBR (Computer is started from bootable FDD or USB that contains DOS) Regards Milos
