Hi,Okay I have decided to install an additional internal hard drive to my system, a larger one. What are everyone's thoughts on me installing Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V on the new hard drive and then install 7 on it? Or should I use VPC instead, I already have the Server 2008 but haven't installed it yet. Or, how orwhat should I doto the hard drive? Can i just install Wnidows 7 directly to it or what is the best way to do this. I do have 5 computers at home here that are all networked that I try various things on, going to school now. I think that I would like to have all of my programs on the new drive or is this a bad idea or not necessay?What should I do and how please? Do I need to format and partiction the new drive as well before I do anything with it?Thanks for your help,Tyserman474

Tyserman - As Mark said, it's best not to complicate things by introducing situations/configurations that might confuse everything and everyone.When you install the new drive, and install Win 7 on it, the installation process will do all the formatting, partitioning and such for you so, no, you don't have to do anything special to it before installing the drive.

I want to thank you all for your replies. I do have lots of time right now, I am on disability, so most of my days are pretty much free. I think that the main reason I thought of using Win2008 with Hyper-V is because I wanted to learn new things as well. But I guess I am not sure what to do now. I do have Win7 on my old computer, very slow ect. and love it so far, so that is another reason for putting it on my main computer. I also wanted to make the new HD that I am putting in my main drive but I guess there is no real reason to do that even though the old drive is getting full. So now it is a big quetion for me after all of your input.Thanks Again,Tyserman474

Works great so far but haven;t really gotten in to figuring things out yet.What I am wondering is can I use VPC on it pointing to an external hard drive and then installing my programs on the external drive. Hi Tyserman,Yes, you can install VPC and have VPC pointing to VHD on an external hdd, and install programs into the VHD (or into the virtual machine). Jabez,Thank you this does help but if you don't mind one further question please.If I have a document in MY Documents, on the main Hard drive,and go to open it will it go to VHD to get the program to open it or how does that work?I am really beginning to learn things on here, maybe a little slow on my part but I am.Thanks,Tyserman474
