Installing Windows 7 on a Wiped Disk
I have an otherwise compatible machine on which I'd like to install Windows 7. The catch is that the machine has something on it that somebody managed to get behind the installation partition. So, I'd like to wipe the disk and THEN install 7 on it. The question is whether I would have any problems installing the full version of 7 on what would be essentially a pristine disk?

HiThe Full version, as opposed to an Upgrade version, will work just fine for installing on a blank hard drive. The major reason for purchasing a full version is to be able to install on a system without a previous version of Windows.Hope this helps. Thank You for using Windows 7 Ronnie Vernon MVP

arizonensis, during the install process you will reach a point where you select the partition to install to, stop there cleick advanced and then delete the partition and recreate them or whatever you want.

You can also run Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor to check if any hardware/software is not supported.Vivian Xing - MSFT
