Installing Windows 7 on 64bit OS...
This may be a stupid question but I have a C drive and a D drive. I want to install Windows 7 64 bit (replacing Vista 64 bit). I purchased the downloadable version. My question is... If I leave data on the "D" drive will it be erased when I install Windows 7? These are family pictures, etc, so I don't want to loose then. I don't want to do any migration of data because I don't want any junk. Also what is the difference between Windows 7 64 Bit and Windows 7 64 Bit ISO? I was given two options when I downloaded but there was no explanation as to the differences between the two. Thank you, Stormy

Doing a clean install of Windows 7 on C: replacing the existing Vista SHOULD NOT do anything to the data on your D: drive. The operative words there are SHOULD NOT. Stuff happens. To be safe, you could disconnect the 2nd (D:) drive, install Windows 7 then reconnect it once done. Rich The only two things that are infinite in size are the universe, and human stupidity. Windows 7 64 Bit is the installation program. You can directly run it to upgrade the current system to Windows 7. The Windows 7 64 Bit ISO includes the Windows 7 64bit installation program. You can extract the ISO with tools to get the Windows 7 64bit installation program, also you can directly burn the ISO to a DVD to make an installation disk.Arthur Xie - MSFT
