Installing Visual Studio 2015 RC broke Hyper-V?
I am new to the Hyper-V world on Windows 8.1. I installed it after doing a fresh formatting of my desktop at home and created a VM of Server 2012 R2 for some testing purposes. Everything was working fine.

Desiring to look into some Windows Phone / Universal App development I went and installed Visual Studio 2015 RC on my desktop. Besides the installer taking forever and half to complete (several hours, which is strange as my desktop is a pretty nice machine) it stated it completed successfully and I rebooted the system as prompted.

At that point I went to start up my VM to install some software on it and it fails to come up "because the hypervisor is not running." (would have included full screenshot, but evidently they won't let me until they validate my account)

I doublechecked the recommendations given by Microsoft. It is the same physical hardware. The BIOS settings have not changed from before my installation of VS 2015. I also ran the command below hoping it would fix it, but it didn't.

bcdedit /set hypervisorlaunchtype auto

I am at a loss as to what would cause this and how to fix it. The only Hyper-V service running is the one usually running (so that is normal). Has anyone encountered this? What did you do to fix it?

I would suggest that you post in the appropriate Visual Studio forum.

Especially if your VM worked prior to the Visual Studio RC install.
