Hi,

If you want to set FIMService HA, re-use the same database. After that, create load balancing name for FIMService which would point to both FIMService servers.

Considering password reset and register sites - yes, you should just make them accessible externally by specifying external names (through bindings, NLB etc)

As you have those roles divided between servers, remember about SPN configuration for FIMService and FIMPortal accounts

Thanks for your answer, but i am now struggling to get the portal up in the first place

below is what i am doing

  1.  Configured LB for the 2 fim portal/service machines
  2. Deployed SPF 2013 and configure all the special settings and joined the second machine
  3. Install fim service and portal on the 1st node
  4. install fim service on the second node

All of the above goes successful until i try to login i get service unavailable in a forefront page

any ideas if i am doing something wrong ?

1. First check if you can access http://localhost:5725/ from FIMService machine and http://fimserviceNLBname:5725/ from any computer in domain. If so, you know that at least FIMService is running normally and you have to look for the problem in FIM Portal installation.

2. Check Event Viewer just after you attempt to access FIM Portal site - it would say if it has a problem with Kerberos delegation or access to FIMService.
