can I install Windows 8.1 Preview in another partition without burning into DVD or USB?

Only extracting the iso and run the setup.exe???

You cannot dual-boot without a Windows DVD or USB. You can extract iso and install windows 8.1 preview on the OS you're using. So, I recommend you that if you want to dual boot then make a bootable USB or DVD or no chance to dual boot !

Note: To install Windows 8.1 Preview from an ISO file, you must first convert the ISO file into installation media stored on a DVD or a USB flash drive.
