Install Lync 2010 Recording Player

Hello,

I need to share a Lync 2010 recorded meeting in "native" format (.crec file structure) with no-Lync users.

I would like to install only Lync 2010 Recording Meeting Player (no full Lync 2010 client).

Is it possible ? Any experience about this installation ?

Thks.

can you clarify?  Are you wanting the CREC format?   Assuming not.

It's a little confusing becaues the crec format is only supported on windows and the Lync 2010 client, but you specificed that this is for 'no-Lync users".

Please clarify.

If you are wanting to convert crec to mp4 -It seems, as per https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/lync/en-US/a3293f96-c114-45a8-b038-e84647d012e3/how-to-play-old-meeting-recordings-after-upgrade-to-msoffice-lync-client-2013?forum=lyncprofile that you may be out of luck however.

I do not think that there is a way to convert CREC files to MP4.  I would be interested if there were one.  An improvement from 2010 to 2013 was the new way that LRM performs the recordings

Hi Greg,

I like Lync 2010 Recording Meeting Player`s funcionality and consumers will work only on Windows system.

We dont need ALL Lync 2010 Client, just Meeting Player.

Is it posible to install ONLY Meeting Player ?  Is there another software to play CREC files ?

In relation to crec2mp4 conversin, it could be used a two step procedure:

1. Convert crec to wmv using Lync 2010 Recording Manager

2. Convert from .wmv to .mp4 using well-knowed video converter.

Tnks.

Hi JoSerra,

CREC format is only supported on the Windows platform and could only run on Lync 2010. Im afraid that you cannot run the Meeting Player without installing the full Lync 2010 client, it is not a separate program, it requires lots of DLLs to work.

In my opinion, you do not need to convert it to MP4 format, you can convert the meeting record (.crec file) to wmv file by clicking Publish in Lync Record Manager, and then it can be played with Windows Media Player.

Best regards,

Eric
