Install Loopback adapter?
I can't seem to figure out how to do it. add a new device keeps searching, but never shows me the option to manually select what driver to install.I' also like to ask about the best solution for the following scenario:I have a notebook with Virtual PC installed. In this Virtual PC there's a VM with XP + SQL serverI have the same VM also installed on my home computer (because it's much faster)So, normally I'm using SQL servers in the company. When they are not available, I'm using the notebook VM.When I'm at home I'm using the home computer's VM.The latter options are great when I'm plugged in since name resolution always resolves to the VM that is started, regardless of the computer on which it is started. The reason I need loopback adapter is because wireless or ethernet have to be connected for VM and notebook to see each other. I sometimes don't even have this luxury.I only need the loopback adapter for the VM.So:How can I install loopback network adapter? How do I set it up so that it doesn't interfere with my other connections, but still provides access to the VM at all times - and does not prevent access to the VM when it's running on my home computer?

Read the Warning and click next. Now choose "Install the hardware that I manually select from a list (Advanced). Choos within the types "Network adapter" and click next. Now choose Microsoft as the Manufacturer and search for "Microsoft Loopback Adapter". You should have to use the arrow keys to navigate because the windows looks very odd. I already bugged this. Now you have installed the loopback adapter in Windows 7 Beta.Peter Forster, MVP Virtual Machine, Austria

Thanks, this helped. In my case the window was almost complete, just the buttons were hidden, but double click helped. Will this way of adding devices not be accessible from control panel?Maybe that "What if windows doesn't find my device" link that shows on the Add device wizzard should start this program? While at it, could you also ask the developers to make this window (hdwwiz.exe) at least vertically resizable? Current size (unchanged from Win95) isn't exactly helpful for browsing all those devices.
