Inspiron 14R (N4110) Windows 8.1 Video Problems

Hey Guys,

i have a inspiron n4110 (14r) and i recently upgraded to win 8.1 and i am having alot of video issues. My screen keeps glitching and jumping also it sometimes becomes all distorted where im unable to use it and have no choice but to reboot. I am using Intel HD Graphics 3000 driver. Before i upgraded to 8.1, i ran the compatibility check and all my drivers etc passed. So im not quite sure whats the problem, is it that my laptop is not compatible with 8.1? Please assist me with this issue im having, thanks.

Regards,

Jevon.

Even if windows says you have the most current version you still need to install the newest driver as drivers do become corrupt

More often than not when a device isn't working it is because the driver has become corrupted. Re-installing a fresh copy should help http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Update-a-driver-for-hardware-that-isnt-working-properly?SignedIn=1

Hey Wanikiya and Dyami,

thanks for your reply...i will try to reinstall the driver by downloadign it from Intel and see if i get any improvement. Will let you know what happens. Also i saw on a forum on Dell's site saying that my laptop doesnt support the 8.1 upgrade, do you think thats the problem here, because everything else works fine, just the video gives me problems.

regards,

Jevon.

Hi,

Any update?

Have you tried to reinstall the Video drivers?

Based on my research, this inspiron n4110 is supported to upgrade to Windows 8, some common issues are listed due to the video drivers, as Zigzag suggested, please try to download the up-to-date drivers and then reinstall it, then check if issue insists.

To be absolutely  certain you should check with Dell by giving them your express tag number they can tell you for sure

Doesn't matter if you are under warranty or not your express tag will give you the exact right drivers for your particular computer,  we still need the DMP files

Has there been any update on this. My laptop is doing the EXACT same thing. I am assuming this is because of the 8.1 upgrade. I am going to try window 7 - 8 drivers to find if there is a loop hole somewhere. If you have found something please let me know and I will post back here if I find something.

Solved.

I had the same problem with my Dell inspiron n4110. After several months of trial and error and reinstallations, and found following solution worked for me:

While upgrading from Windows 8 to 8.1, the Display driver gets upgraded automatically which causes all display issues like glitching etc. You need to rollback the display driver to solve these issues. You have to go to control panel -> device manager-> Display adapters -> right click on  AMD Radeon 7450M -> click properties -> select Driver tab -> click Rollback drvier to roll back the driver.

Once Display driver is rolled back, restart the system and problems are solved.
