Inherited file permissions
I have a well established network with over 1000 pc's, amrunning Windows 2003 AD as the backend security. Have a few people running Vista Business Edition to test it. Noticed a strange and potentially very bad problem today. One of the Vista testersadded somepermissionsto one of the folders on our file server and propogated those permissions down the tree. After doing so, he found that the entire folder in questionwas 'access denied' to him. Upon investigation, we found that when he proporgated the permissions, his Vista machine had removed the inherit permissions tickbox and thereby removed almost everyone's permissions (including his) To check this was not a user error, I tried this several times from his machine in different network folders and found the same results. We looked at another Vista machine and tried to replicate, but this one did not untick the box.... If this is an option,we certainly didnot deliberately set it, and don't know how to unset it - anyone any ideas? Cheers Nick
