Did you put a check mark in the Indexing Service box then click Apply? That should be all that's necessary although it may require a Restart to take effect.RosieDell OptiPlex GX260, 2.40 GHZ, Pentium 4, 80G HD, WindowsXP Pro (SP3), IE8, Avira, Spybot S&D, SpywareBlaster 4.2, OnlineArmor 4.0

OK I have now got it running but cannot see any indicators anywhere to show me the status. Does it run once on start-up or run continuously. I have again tried the moviemaker function but still won't import it..Vanguard_1

Vanguard, it depends on how you originally "stopped" it from running. You can stop it with one method or disable it with another. If it's running now, it will be constantly running. When you put the check mark back in, did it show Running or Stopped over to the right side of the window? Most computer pros recommend disabling it since it's such a resource hog and unnecessary. You can check this out and decide for yourself. http://kadaitcha.cx/performance.html Tweak #7To disable the indexing service: Click Start, Run, type services.msc then press enter or click OK Scroll to the "Indexing Service" in the right-hand pane and double-click it Change the Startup type to Manual or Disable and Apply Click the Stop button and wait for the service to stop then click OK As for the problems you are having with the Moviemaker, you should start a new topic\thread in the appropriate forum. Thanks, sorted now. I have now disabled it as I have also discovered it is not relevant to my MovieMaker problems as I mentioned.Vanguard_1
