Indefinite ip renewal ..no internet!
3 days ago i think my router got hacked and was reset to factory settings even after i had it set for wpa security(wireless)anyway i went and reset the router again and set up the wpa security again anyway i managed to get every computer back online except my wifes ..its stuck in a indefinet ip renewal process in which she cant connect till it finishes. ive changes adapters thinkin that the mac id got blocked by the service provider.that didnt work. i uninstalled the networking features on windows to try a 3rd party setup and still no avail.so my only other idea might b that the cd key got hacked and microsoft block internet access on my wifes computer(hence the reason im here now)1 person needs an answerI do too

For your router setting itself you should put strong password not only Wireless. If Windows is NOT genuine several issue might happen.Try to run full system scan with:http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/default.htmAnd see if anything detect in the PC that have problem or not.

Unlikely. Microsoft does not "block internet access."i think my router got hacked and was reset to factory settingsYour router (make/model?) just spontaneously reset? Did you have a power failure/power surge/thunderstorm ?Did you (do you) have your router configured to permit remote management? Did you change the password for access to the router's configuration utility from the default? What does this mean: "stuck in a indefinite ip renewal process in which she cant connect till it finishes"? If it's indefinite, how does it finish? Are you saying that eventually the problem computer DOES connect?Given that you mention wpa, I assume that you are attempting to connect wirelessly. Can the problem computer get to the Internet if you connect it to the router with an Ethernet cable? What is the result of ipconfig /all on the problem computer?

I had this issue once. its similar actually its not the exact issue. i did not get hacked. i just changed settings on my wireless adapter. and when i did it changed the password being used for access. and it caused the router to kick it off and on and off. so it was indefinite i then re inputted the password. and it started to connect again. This should help you i hope. It prob just auto connecting with a wrong password. go to the adapter settings. in my case. it was the netgear WG111 icon on my system tray. and then go to security and enter the new password. But it is different per adapter. or router. so i am not entirely sure but it should be somewhat similar
