Incorrect Function
Hi all A personal question! Looking at a laptop for a friend whos wireless has suddenly stopped working and it appears the driver has been uninstalled (wouldn't suprise me if they broke it!). When trying to reinstall it/point to the driver files it fails the install and says "incorrect function" even though it is the right driver! Tried everything I can think of! Any ideas? Windows 7... Thanks, Richard

Install drivers with elevated rights. Give us more information on errors (full, not fragments) Thanks Milos

There are no errors (I can find) in the event log. The driver is being installed with elevated rights - here is the error (which shows the card)

Hi, I would like suggest you to restart computer into safe mode and then do your driver install from there. In Safe mode, all the microsoft stuff that stops things from working, is not loaded, so your install will be successfull. Then just reboot normally.

Hi, Try to download the latest driver from the Dell website. Then uninstall the driver and reinstall it from Device Manager. Also to make sure this issue it not relate to wireless card, you can contact to Dell for support. Hope this helps. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to let me know.
