Incoming Connections in Windows 7 not working after reconfiguration
I had a windows 7 Incoming Connection set up properly for a couple accounts on my machine. I subsequently tried several alternative solutions since it seems you can only connect one incoming connection at a time to windows 7. For example I tried installing OpenVPN and installing an Ubuntu VM in VMware player and then later in VMware workstation. To do those things I had to disable the Incoming Connection in windows 7. Subsequently I've ditched all the alternative solutions and decided to go back to the windows 7 solution. But now I can't connect as an Incoming Connection. I've deleted and re-setup the Incoming Connection, and I've tried turning off the firewall. When attempting to connect it seems to simply not connect. It's not failing on authentication or anything like that. I get Error 800: Unable to establish the VPN connection. The VPN server may be unreachable, or security parameters may not be configured properly for this connection. I could uninstall VMware workstation and get rid of all the virtual network adapters. But to save myself the hassle, I'm hoping it's something obvious I simply missed. What am I missing? Neil D

Hi, Based on my research, I would like to suggest the following: 1. Is this computer connecting to a router? If so, please also check its settings and forward the 1723 port; or, you can bypass the router and connect directly to check how it works. 2. Disable SNP in Windows 7 by setting Registry as following: Note: Please perform a full-system backup first. [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters] EnableTCPChimney=dword:00000000 EnableTCPA=dword:00000000 EnableRSS=dword:00000000 If the keys do not exist, please create them and assign the value. An update to turn off default SNP features is available for Windows Server 2003-based and Small Business Server 2003-based computers 3. Please try the following method: I received error 800, which says the VPN server is unreachable. Hope this helps. Thanks.Nicholas Li - MSFT
