In Forum Pop Ups
While looking at forum entry InPrivate browsing, InPrivate filtering, Smart screen filtering, I yesterday, twice and today once got a floating pane that slides into view showing: __________________________________________________________________________ x closeYou are invited! You have been randomly selected to take a brief online survey. Could youtake a few minutes to help us out? (I would like to participate!) msn (butterfly logo) Powered by Safecount.net______________________________________________________________________________ I did not touch it & got out of I.E. 8. I wonder if whoever is in charge of this forum is aware that users of the forum with settings that should not allow it, are being soliceted in this manner.

Yah, that's a common popup on most MS forums and sites, I've seen it 100's of times. It's not an unsafe one, but it certainly does seem to circumvent any browser popup rules..which as you note..doesn't please many people. I guess since most people now browse with popup blockers active, they have to have a way to get legit site surveys like this noticed. At least it's not very intrusive and closes without problem or an "Are you sure?" message accompanying it and you don't get it every 10 minutes after closing it. (at least I don't) But I do understand your frustration, and that of many others, myself included depending on my mood that day ;)

As it isn't a popup it doesn't violate your settings and it doesn't utilize cookies either. So your settings are not being set aside. Regards Jens Peter Karlsen.

Since I did not open due to securtity concern, I don't know what benefit it is serving this secure Windows forum. Microsoft, and or the outsource handling forum must condone it. If its purpose is to get forum user feedback, that should be in the forum itself. In fact, the whole purpose of this forum is user feedback and help - certainly appeciated here. I don't recall seeing anything like this anywhere since first using I.E.8 and that is my feedback on the matter. Hm, wonder if I can mark this as the answer to my question?

I have the same pop-up but it goes one further step. When i return to my computer in the morning the pop-up is there with an included dialog box stating that this window wants to close internet explorer. this only happens to me at night it seems. i use ie9 and have windows 7, safecount has no faqs reguarding why they use the popups. i would like this gone.
