Impression, Sticky notes and taskbar
So far I have found Windows 7 to be exceptional. I have had no hardware problems whatsoever and am quite impressed with performance and user interface updates.First question: is there a way to use the Vista style of sticky notes as a sidebar gadget? I like the new implementation of the notes, though I don't like that I can't resize the note small enough to become a gadget. As such the notes look somewhat obtrusive on my desktop.Second: can you make the taskbar more customizable? The fact that I can only have large or small icons I find limiting. The ability to have programs stick to the taskbar and how they are stacked and how each shows their respective windows when I hover over them is great, but the large is too large and the small is too small. I am finding that when I have multiple programs running and windows open, the taskbar starts to get cluttered and cumbersome with small icons. When I switch to large, I find it looks ugly. I like a slim, sleek, taskbar. On that note, perhaps making the icons within each icon-box sizeable would be perfect (I hope that made sense).Overall, I am thoroughly impressed.

Cant agree more...Just for comparison, I added 45 icons to Mac OS X dock. It still feels very comfortable. As I keep on adding more, dock keeps resizing icons almost continuosly. Another very neat trick about dock that I appreciate a lot is when you hover over an icon, icons enlarge so that you can easily see what it is. Enough with the Dock praising :-) In Win 7 after 25 icons, things started to feel uncomfortable and I had to either choose small icons (and buy a magnifying glass) or keep the large icons but live with the nasty scrolling method. It truly beats me sometimes, why on earth after adding so many nice and innovative features, the developers still manages to overlook and miss these types of details. Just to demonstrate the level of ignorance, while you are using the taskbar, you would usually move your mouse in a horizontal direction. Now, they have added a scroll icon (this icon appears once your taskbar can not accomodate all the icons you have pinned). But these icon is vertical. I am sure they have their reasons in setting it up in this way (probably they didnt want to loose taskbar realestate). But, this is quite uncomfortable. There are probably 10 different and more elagant solutions... I hope they can smooth out these rough edges till they release the final product. Because, I truly believe that Win 7 is unexpectedly very good. And I like it a lot..And I want to buy it instead of switching to MAC completely.

Hi, First of all, thank you for your suggestions on taskbar, I will forward them to out feedback team. Regarding the large icon size, its designed for touch. Thank you for your understanding. Regarding sticky note gadget, currently, Microsoft does not have it in Windows 7 RC. I suggest you download a third party gadget as a workaround. Hope it helps.
