Impossible to access xp admin password with 14 characters.
I built an admin XP pro password of 14 characters. It has been accepted. Unfortunately its refused when i try to access my account.Only a limited size of characters could be filled in the field. I'm sure of my password and it seems that only 10 or 11 characters are accepted. Thanks for help. 1 person needs an answerI do too

Although the box for typing your password only displays 11 dots, you can type more than 11 characters. As a test, I just typed 40 characters in the box, and they were accepted. I think that the maximum password length is 255 characters.Boulder Computer Maven Microsoft Most Valuable Professional

Hello,Thx for ur reply.Unfortunately my password is not accepted in this machine. In another machine, its been accepted.... I dont know what to think. Maybe, its because of a 2002 windows xp pro version updated sp2 then sp3 !!!I'll be careful next time. Many thx.

You're welcome. I haven't heard of the SP2 and SP3 updates causing password problems. In XP Pro, you can press CTRL+ALT+DELETE at the Welcome Screen and then log into the built-in account named Administrator , provided that you know the password (if any) for that account. Once logged in, you can go to Control Panel>User Accounts and change or remove the password for your regular account.Boulder Computer Maven Microsoft Most Valuable Professional
