Importing Existing Group Policies into Security Compliance Manager
Hi, I've already created my Win7 GPOs in our environment. I want to import them into Security Compliance Manager so that I can first compare differences with the Win7 EC baseline and then to export them to Excel. How can I do that? To back up your GPO: Open Group Policy Management from Administrative Tools. Click Group Policy Object Right click on the GPO you want to backup or export. Select Backup to back up the GPO. Give that a shot.. not sure if that works with Security Compliance Manager..

Hi Tim, Actually I've already backed up my GPOs in GPMC to HTML and XML files. What I *really* want to do is to import them into Excel to print out as a report. While Excel can directly import XML files, it's a hot mess. So I figured that since Security Compliance Manager can natively export directly to Excel file, then maybe I can leverage that tool (GPMC->SCM->Excel). I can export the built-in baselines to Excel just fine. I know I could duplicate a Microsoft baseline, modify it per the GPOs I have already done and then export the new one but that's a heck a lot of work. Why I can't I import the policy objects I've already created into SCM and then export them to Excel? I'm speaking rhetorically, but why wasn't this feature added? Surely this is not an uncommon request I am thinking of. Thanks, RolandLife Motto #1: "Live your life like you give a damn."
