I did not produce an exported addressbook file from Windows Live Mail before it crashed. All I have is the {Username}.contacts file that I have managed to retreive from the crashed Windows7 machine. Can that be used?

Brian,Outlook Express doesn't support importing *.contacts files. You could install Windows Live Mail, import the file you recovered, and then export it for Outlook Express using the steps Syed provided. I'm assuming that Windows Live Mail can import a *.contacts file, I'm honestly not sure. As Syed stated in his post, the best question for WLM questions would be in the Windows Live Forums.
