If I have not initiated a Remote Desktop Connection in Windows 7 ULT, and no one else has that I am aware of... should I have a file named "Default.rdp" appear in my documents folder?
If I have not initiated a Remote Desktop Connection in Windows 7 ULT, and no one else has that I am aware of... should I have a file named "Default.rdp" appear in my documents folder? This is a file that WAS NOT in the "My Documents" folder to begin with just over two weeks ago when I originally set-up this Windows 7 ULT OS. This file has a grayed-out looking icon that IS the RDC icon ... it looks like it was a hidden file that was made visible when I set my OS to show hidden files. The file type DOES display as "Remote Desktop Connection" and it has a date of about 5 days after I installed Windows 7 ULT. What is this and why did it appear in the "My Documents" folder when it wasn't there to begin with? I have since thrown it away and emptied the recycle bin and done a system search for the same file name, but it has not reappeared nor does it show up in the search. Thanks for any input on this, numetro

To Al Jarvi, I received an email notice about the response from "Al Jarvi" on this thread, but I am not seeing his reply show up on this page and it is over an hour after his response notice via email. Al's response: "Yes that is perfectly normal and nothing to worry about. Here is an older article concerning its purpose and what information is contained in the file. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/885187" But I checked that weblink and it says: "When you use the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) to connect to a remote computer, the Default.rdp file is created on the client computer. This article discusses the connection settings that are stored in the Default.rdp file." As I stated, I have not used or established any connection with Remote Desktop Connection, RDP, or any other remote access apps on this computer with Windows 7, ever... with only a 16 day history of Windows 7 on this machine and the date of 5 days after initial installation of W7 that the "Default.rdp" file showed, it is not difficult to be sure of this. Also, that webpage that you referred me to says, "Article ID: 885187 - Last Review: May 21, 2007 - Revision: 1.5" "Remote Desktop Protocol settings in the Windows Server 2003 and in Windows XP" I realize that the article probably applies to Windows 7 ULT, but I haven't used RDC. I HAVE NOT ESTABLISHED A CONNECTION WITH RDC, NOR HAS ANYONE ELSE BEEN PERMITTED TO. Thanks for any other replies that do show up on this thread, numetro
