Idle timeout is ANNOYING!!!
Whenever i am copying or moving files my screen goes blank after about 60 seconds and i am faced with the logon screen. This is so damn annoying as i dont want it to do it. I can not find anything that will let me kill this annoying event. I want to be able to sit there and get bored watching large volumes of files move from folder to folder without having to log in every 60 seconds!!! I WANT MY SCREEN ON 24/7, non stop, permanently!!!! And, no theres nothing in the power saving options to fix this. Power saving is set to NEVER turn ANYTHING off.

well, not knowing what your hardware is can be a bit difficult to decipher. sounds like a driver issue.

What's your screensaver setting?
May 8th, 2009 7:13pm

Cant be a driver issue. The drivers are all microsoft... oh wait... theres the problem........ And my screensavers are disabled. I dont use screensavers, like i said, i want to see everything that happens on my screen no matter how monotonous(?) it is. I dont trust windows to do anything without supervision. I fixed it myself!!!! BUG!!! Screensaver is set to none but the "On resume display logon screen" was still ticked. THIS WILL CAUSE THE LOGON SCREEN TO APPEAR AFTER THE SPECIFIED SCREENSAVER TIMEOUT EVEN IF THE SCREENSAVER IS DISABLED!!! I unticked the option and have not seen the logon screen since!! A driver issue... yeah right. Thanks Gary02139 for pointing me in the right direction.

So why are you still throwing a tantrum and yelling at people? You solved it by looking in the most logicallocation and it is fixed. The yelling (as in all caps) and obnoxious response to the person who suggested a driver based upon your minimal original post are hardly consistent with civil or polite discourse, whether in the same room, on the phone, or on the internet....Stephen

Stephen shut ya pan... if i wanted your opinion i would give it to you. i am not polite because windows is ALWAYS screwing up in one way or another. but since we are not given a choice in operating systems (that penguin program or so full of 'you-know-what') i can rant and rave all i want. its a free country and the internet is here to give everyone a voice to be heard. Besides, IF you actually read it correctly (and you didnt) i actually followed someone elses suggestion. as for all caps.... i dont consider it shouting. its print on a screen and if your poor eyeballs cant handle capital letters then tough nuggets... i wasnt "shouting' at anyone. you dont like my post? who cares. dont read it and get lost.

Stephen Umm.. you MUST (emphasising.. not yelling) be young. In the days before twitter and the internet, people used caps to emphasise... It wasn't 'yelling' as you put it. I read his comment and my ears didnt pick up a thing. Older people such as myself dont use caps to yell. Thats what the younger generation do because they are slowly losing the ability to communicate through voice. Its all keyboard and internet cafes.. No wonder the people of tomorrow are getting fat and brainless... As for Ignatz' response about the bug. I feel he had every right to reveal the solution in whatever form he chose. It seems he is one of the less enthusiastic windows users but in the same context, he is one of the harsher critics of same. Therefore, the devs at microshaft may decide that some people have a little less patience than others, some may have less comprehension of a new setup and may miraculously decide to make things a little simpler and user friendly in the future. So pull your head out of your rectum, let the man speak and stop playing 'holier than thou' just because someone else doesnt understand the garbage you seem to live for.

With regards to the Moderator... I abase myself and offer myself for punishment to fit my crime.... With regards to 2old2change... HI BROTHER!!! (yelling) I am glad theres at least one other person on the net who sees things as they are and not as some tech 1337 speaking jerk decides it how should be viewed. I have been on the net pretty much since it started and as far as im concerned, computers, the internet and EVERY operating system is/are FAR from satisfactory. No pc is fast enough for me, NO OS is good enough, and there isnt an ISP in the world who can give me the net speed i want. We all know there are super fast pc's out there and there are net speeds only the gods dream of available and we all KNOW there e=are OS' out there that are near perfect. BUT if we had all that then the world economy would collapse overnight because we would not need workers to build "better" pc's or "speed up" the net or "improve" an OS. Therefore i shall gripe, whinge, complain, argue, defy, abuse (within reason i hope) and snarl about and to anyone and anything PC or internet related. As is my right. My personal opinion of windows 7 is... OMG... so far its working perfectly in everything i have done since i installed it!!!! Aside from not having the XP start menu (CURSE YOU MICROSOFT!!!), i like it. Amazingly i have actually been recommending it to my friends to try out. If i find anything else wrong, i shall post again. But be warned... i am old and cranky and technology isnt good enough for my wants yet so i will be critical and scathing in my reply if i see fit. ...... fades off into a senile moment..... ok ma... im off to the doc for my pills....... where tha heck am i?????
