I would like to reset all of my home netork settings to default on windows 7.
I have mapped a drive on my other pc (also windows 7) and was troubleshooting some stuff and I messed up my settings. Now I have to enter a username and password to access my mapped drive. I have not created such a username and password. I have disabled password protected sharing with no luck. Restoring wont work because I have done it too much and now they are all with this same problem.

It is now showing the drive but will not allow me into them. It is saying that I do not have permission and to contact the administrator. (ME)

The 2 golden rules of peer-peer networking are: 1. The server computer must have knowledge of the credentials of the incoming connection. 2. Each username must have an associated password. The password cannot be blank. In practice, this means that if John on PC1 wants to access resources on PC2, then there must exist a user called John on PC2, and he must have the same password as the user John on PC1. I hope this helps!

somebody told me that there cannot be blank passwords for "my movies" to read my movie collection on the other pc. so I did the reset network password command. After this I have had to eneter a username and password. I dont understand how I could access the othert pc before without any user/pass and nowI can't.

The passwords must be the same on both machines for the same user.

VF, are you saying, that is why one should use AD and a server? (because peer-peer is a pain in the b...)
