See my rather lengthy reply to your later post. For this one, if you were using the built-in Administrator account for your daily work (using XP Pro/Media Center) and then made a second administrator account, your original account isn't lost. It is just hidden from the Welcome Screen now. This is by design (see my previous reply). Keep the second administrative user account you made for emergencies and put the built-in Administrator account back on the Welcome Screen: Enable Administrator account on Welcome Screen - http://www.dougknox.com/xp/scripts_desc/xp_admin_ok.htm MS-MVP - Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic!

This is related so seemed the right place to post. I recently added a user, switched around administrator privileges and then switched them back. Now, logged in as the administrator with the other user logged off, I am unable to delete that user (Permission denied). What's more, my files that I originally saved as administrator now come up "Read-Only" and I cannot delete or change them. Any ideas on what happened and how to fix it?Thanks

I have no idea what happened. Try a System Restore to before you did whatever it was you did and hopefully that will make things right.MS-MVP - Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic!
