Please try downloading it and installing it manually. If this does not help, please: Run sfc /scannow and chkdsk /r /f Download and Install System Update readiness tool for Windows Vista Reset Windows Update components Disable all security softwares. After that, try again. If the problem persists, try performing an in-place upgrade of your OS. This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights. Hi, Do you receive the error code on every security updates mentioned above? If so, It is suggested to prepare clean boot and try again as your security software or other third party software may cause conflict: To place the computer in a clean boot state, follow the steps below: 1. Click Start, type msconfig in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Continue. 2. On the General tab, click Selective Startup. 3. Under Selective Startup, click to clear the Load Startup Items check box. 4. Click the Services tab, click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable All. 5. Click OK. 6. When you are prompted, click Restart. 7. Hi, Could you please specify which update failed with the error 80070005? If it is for Internet explorer, please reset IE to check the result. If it is security for Windows Vista, please disable your security software manually and try again. In some cases, we can't pingpoint the root cause, we can hide the update and wait for next service pack. Any suggestions of what to do if Magon's solution above still doesn't work? I've still got a laptop which is trying (and failing) to install this update every time I turn it on. And, of course, then restarting when I foget that its trying to do that!.

Hi Lekthai, you wrote: I can manually install some of it but not all of them and update complete no error on the one that i manually install. Still some error on the one i cannot manually install. Don't forget if you right click on any of the updates listed in 'view update history' within Windows Update you can get Details on it & link to the associated bulletins on the technet site detailing even more about them there. Regards, pkn2011
