I suddenly can't use photos for deskop background
Suddenly my pc had one photo set as the background on my desktop. I opened Personalize and chose a theme. Nothing. I can click on one and it will show in the Desktop Background spot, but no photo appears. I would Browse and get to my Photos Folder and pick photos and try to add as Background but it won't. This started as same time as on Start Menu I can't click on the Documents, Pictures, Games, and Music links. I ran several adware and antivirus programs and nothing. What is going on? This happened after I converted to IE9 and did the recommended Updates for my pc. Now my restore points don't work either. Says they are damaged or corrupted and after I try using them they disappear so I can't select them again. Help!

It might becaused by a shell extension. Explorer is built on addin programs called Shell Extensions. The standard ones are supplied by MS but programs add their own. Download http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/shexview.html Disable all non microsoft shell extensions, and if it helps, reenable one by one to identify which one. It might be caused by a third party program. Try clean boot troubleshooting. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/331796 -- .. -- "spidey69" wrote in message news:2942e318-091d-4309-840e-e9e20c560ef9... > Suddenly my pc had one photo set as the background on my desktop. Hi, What’s the background now? Is it black? And did you receive any Windows Genuine Advantage notification? If not, please follow the steps to Change your desktop background (wallpaper) Please check this issue in Clean Boot. If the issue persists, take the following steps to change the wallpaper: 1) Rename a picture using the name: TranscodedWallpaper. Please note: the picture should be .jpg format. 2) Locate the folder: %systemdrive%\users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Themes 3) Copy the renamed picture to replace the TranscodedWallpaper.jpg. 4) Right click the Taskbar and click Start Task Manager. 5) Highlight Processes and click explorer.exe. 6) Click End Process. 7) Click File==>New Task(Run)==>Type: explorer.exe==>hint Enter. See if the Wallpaper is changed. If the Wallpaper is changed, the issue is related to Control Panel trigger. You may need to run Startup Repair to fix the issue. Otherwise, if the Wallpaper isn't changed neither, the related registry may be corrupted or missing. Before you modify the registry, please make a backup for your registry first, you can refer to the following link: Back up the registry After that, please launch the Register to navigate to the following entry: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop Find if there is an entry named: Wallpaper. If not, you can manually create an entry named Wallpaper using String Value type.
