Next time please put the details of your question into the body of the post instead of the Subject line. With a used computer best practice is to do a clean install. This is particularly important with a former domain member machine since many group policies set at the server will be "tattooed" on the system and make it very difficult to use as a home machine. http://michaelstevenstech.com/cleanxpinstall.html - Clean Install How-To http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Reinstalling_Windows If you are unable or unwilling to do this (not recommended), you will need to use NTpasswd to change the local administrator password to a blank. Then log in and disjoin the machine from the network. Create a new user account for yourself and delete any domain user profiles. This will not remove any group policies that are tattooed and m ost companies also set up a restrictive default user profile so if this was true in your case, new user accounts will also be restricted. Download the bootable CD .iso, burn with third-party burning software such as Roxio, Nero, or the free ImgBurn . Burnas an image, not as data. Boot with the media you created. You may need to change the boot order in the BIOS or get a temporary boot order menu with a special keypress. NTpasswd will run. Follow the instructions carefully. http://home.eunet.no/pnordahl/ntpasswd/ MS-MVP - Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic!
