I only have two System Restore points
I just checked and there are only two System Restore points on this Win 7 computer. I've been running RC1 since the middle of October so there should be a lot more that that. I have 2.2GB allocated and there was 1.1 GB used, but only two points. I just created a new one and it only took about 200MB which can't be true, can it? I started a System Restore and indeed there are now three restore points, including the one I just created. Rich

Hi Rich, Restore point will be created if: 1. Critical update is installed. 2. Specific time set in Task Scheduler. We can start Task Scheduler, go to Task Scheduler Library --- Microsoft --- Windows --- SytemRestore. Here we can find the triggers are "Daily" and "At startup". But there is a Conditions: "Start the task only in the computer is idle for" and "Start only if the computer is on AC power". As system may not judge "idle" correctly sometimes, auto create restore point may not be performed every day. You can do some test such as uncheck the Idle condition to see the result. Also you can try to enlarge the usage space a little more incase it is the cause.

Hi Shaon. I sure wish I was getting notification when an update is made to a thread I started. I just checked and I now had no (that's 0) System Restore points. I did not delete them (I don't know how yet). Will System Restore manage restore points if I schedule one to occur daily? By that I mean will it delete old ones when the allocated space gets full like it did with XP?Rich

Yes it will delete the old one when there is no enough space to create a new one. For the missing System Restore points, maybe it is caused we disabled and re-enabled system restore. I sugest youcreate a restore point manually to see if it works fine.

I created one manually and that worked fine. I rebooted a while ago (adding the old style Quick Launch to the TaskBar to free up space) and another was created, so all is well now, many thanks.Rich
