I need to free up space on my C-drive on my netbook, what can I do to free up space?
My netbook (HP) C-drive has 7.62G of space. I am down to 2% of free space left, but haven't hardly downloaded any major programs! I don't know of any programs that I can delete that I don't need. The only things I've downloaded are an anti-virus program (AVG) and TweetDeck. I thought I was doing good by saving the AVG and TweetDeck to the D-drive, but it didn't help.Any help would be appreciated!1 person needs an answerI do too

Hello sixreagans Download and run CCleaner. Delete all the temporary files with it. If you don`t use Hibernation, turn it off. You will regain disk space equal to the amount of installed RAM. Right click My Computer/Properties/System Restore Reduce the space reserved for System Restore. You can pull the slider down to half-way and still have plenty of Restore Points..

Did it, but still only have 4% free space (320 MB) of 7.62 GB. I even thought that it might be a virus or spyware causing the problem, but I went to Microsoft and ran a scan; no viruses, no spyware, no anything else. I'm stumped! I've gone back through and deleted everything that I have downloaded plus a couple of other things.I am stumped! Did this netbook come w/ that much stuff on the C: drive?! Why can't I delete enough stuff to run the defragmenter? Any help would be appreciated!

If you think you have lost space it could still be malware. Run MalwareBytes Also try running SpaceMonger It will identify all the used space for you Click on the space for more information

I think you had better Click Start > My Computer > See what Drives you have there, and their Sizes and Drive Letters.Your C: Drive containing XP, your Programs and Data isgoing to be a lot more than7.62GBs!A 7.62GB Drive is normally the Recovery Partition put on your Hard Drive by the Computer Manufacturrer in case of System Crash to put it back to Factory Settings. It is not for you to save anything to; and it is not to compress and/or Index,, Disk Cleanup, use for Backup, Defrag or have System Restore turned on for it.You are supposed tohave made Recovery disks from it:, in case of Hard Drive failure.Ask the Manufacturer how to make them, and how to delete/fix what has been done there.Cheers.
