I need help in shrinking volume

A week ago i got a new ASUS laptop with windows 8 on it. (64 bit)

It has only one (C:) Drive on the 750 HDD.

I Wish to shrink this volume to 100 or 150 GB and use all the rest for a new partition. However, the maximum size i can shrink is 344054 MB, NOTHING MORE.

Also in the disk management tool, it shows additional "recovery" partitions that doesn't show on my computer folder and one of them has 20 GB and i can't get rid of it.

Any way i can shrink my C: drive to 100-150 GB and using the rest for a new partition?

You should probably leave the 20 gig recovery partition but the others can be probably be removed using a third party partition manager like Easeus master partition manager (free for trial) but without knowing the specifics of what is in each, etc I cant be more specific.

Hi,

The 20GB recovery partition can be created by the OEM to recovery the Windows to default settings.

In addition, check this: Windows 8 Fix You cannot shrink a volume beyond the point where any unmovable files are located

To shrink volume, please following the steps according to the following article:

Temporarily disable System Protection on the C Drive, then restart your PC and you should have the ability to shrink the drive to your desired size.
