I am running Windows 7. I use Picasa for downloading pics and videos from my camera. I have lost some recent pics and videos of my boys, they are no longer in my picasa folder. Two questions. One, is there a way to somehow find and retrieve them? Two, is there a better program for managing my pics, videos or other dowwloads from my camera?

Do a search of the entire hard drive for files of type .jpg, which is what your pictures should be on your computer. See if the ones you are missing are anywhere else on the hard drive. As for managing pictures, I prefer to do so manually. I have a D:\Cannon folder that I load all my pictures to. I manually create folders (YYYY_MM_DD) as needed for new pictures. I regularly backup this folder as most of the pictures are irreplaceable. I also write them to DVD a couple times a year for added safe keeping. Having said that, Picassa is a decent program for organizing your pictures. It will be interesting to see where you find the lost pictures (I'm reasonably sure you will find them, unless they were deleted by you or someone else accidentally).Rich

Before you do too much more, check your Recycle Bin. If they have been deleted to the Recycle Bin, you will be able to restore them.Also, to actually DO the search Rich mentioned, navigate to the root of the C: drive, then enter ext:jpg into the search box of explorer.-Noel

Yes. Files will not be deleted automatically without any setting. Try search for the missing files. For how to manage pictures and videos, I cannot confirm what the exact requirement you need. You can manually manage files if you would like to --- creating folders to manage files and add them to Library so that we can find all folders by accessing Library.
