I have one user cannot access what appears to be http. All other users on this pc can access, but this one user can not.
We recently contracted the system guard virus. Mcafee didn't catch it in time but attempted to clean it on a scan. It quarantined a couple of system registry entries and ever since, one user and only one user always gets "page not available" in internet explorer. This user can access the internet through some programs. Ping, telnet, etc. But anything trying http fails. Somehow the virus or registry modification left this user's http and whatever else hijacked. Tried google chrome with the same results. Cannot access any web page.Tried uninstalling ie7 and reinstalling. Same problem.Tried resetting default setting for that user's internet explorer. Didn't help.Any ideas? How do I even start? Mcafee won't help, they said contact the manufacturer. Nice huh?2 people need an answerI do too

Try running Malwarebytes on that machine. http://www.malwarebytes.org/ After that I'd probably get rid of McAfee and replace it with something like Microsoft Security Essentials (Free for home or home based business users). You can also get and run CCleaner http://www.ccleaner.com/ and see if that helps.-B- http://www.officeforlawyers.com Author: The Lawyer's Guide to Microsoft Outlook
