I have lost/mislaid the installation CD that I used when installing Windows XP Home a long time ago. How can I bcak up my files etc without this CD? I still have the authentification code for the software.

Hello gppj25Do you mean "How can you reinstall XP without the CD?"If it was a full Retail XP installation CD you had you can borrow a Retail XP installation CD to reinstall XPYou must make sure it is XP Home and use your own Product Key (authentication code) during the reinstall.You cannot use an OEM XP installation CD. e.g. for Del, HP etc. It must be the Retail CD

All I want to do is back up all of the files on my computer - but the back up part of the software was not loaded when the original installation of XP Home was carried out. All the rest of the software works fine. Hope this makes sense.Regards
