I am not very computer savvy. I can not install SP1 on my Win 7 pro laptop. My laptop is an ACER ASPIRE. When I bought the laptop it had Win 7 Home Premuim. I purchased Win 7 pro and upgraded it using Windows Anytime Upgrade. I have Norton on my lapyop and when ever I run Norton diagnostics it tells me that my laptop does bot have the latest service pack. I right cliked on my computer and then properties, Win 7 does not have SP1. For months I have been reading at Microsoft Tecnet all blogs realated to this issue. Tried most everything suggested still can not install SP1. Please help.

If you purchased WIN 7 pro is better to make a backup, to your files and make an clean install. I think is much reasonable this way, and saving time.willockss

Hi, Please let us know the error message or error code when installing fails. Meanwhile, based on my knowledge, please try the following: 1. Disable all security applications and test the issue again. 2. Try this Microsoft Fixit and see how it works. 3. Run system update readiness tool, restart your system and try to install again. System Update Readiness Tool for Windows 7 (KB947821) [May 2012] System Update Readiness Tool for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB947821) [May 2012] 4. Download Windows 7 SP1 Standalone Installer and install it in Clean Boot Mode. For 32-bit Windows 7, please download windows6.1-KB976932-X86.exe For 64-bit Windows 7, please download windows6.1-KB976932-X64.exe 5. Run System File Checker tool to check if there are errors. If issue persists, please upload CBS,log and CheckSUR.log to SkyDrive for further research. How to: Use SkyDrive to upload collected files and post screen shot/picture.
