I have a Win7 Enterprise(x64)sp1 and joined a domain, but when I try to open the local policy get --> access denied? Why???
STEPS 1) a win 7 that is part of a default install of AD on Win2008r2 --> (a win2008 domain/tree) 2) I launched CMD as an ADMIN on the win 7 client pc 3) added the group policy snap-in 4) I get a "welcome to GP wizard" screen, prompts me for the local policy, I click FINISH then I get a "Access denied" message with a titlebar says --> group policy error" and a close button???? Why can i not open the local policy? I checked the "Default Domain Policy" in GPME and most MMC where set to "Not configured" so I set them to enabled and rebooted the client pc, but no change. i was logged in as the Enterprise Admin, but still same error??? Any ideas???

Hi, I think it is better to post in Server forum. Meanwhile, you can check the following policy in AD. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winserverGP/threads Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> System -> Group Policy, in the right pane scroll and select the "Turn off Local Group Policy objects processing".
