My original hard drive died on me so I was forced to get a replacement. I don't know if I'm allowed to have the group policy anymore since I'm on a replacement hard drive on an Acer laptop, but if I can could someone tell me how I can get a copy of it? I am the only one in my family with Windows XP SP3 and don't know anyone with Windows XP SP3. I have the Home Edition. If you need details let me know.

It would be better to find out why DEP is giving you problems with a particular program instead. In all the many, many hundreds of XP machines I've worked on since XP came out in 2001 I've never had to disable DEP on a single one of them. I have absolutely no idea what programs DEP was blocking other than Windows Movie Maker. It would occasionally block websites I normally go to and always blocked foreign websites. DEP wasn't exactly a a serious problem as much as it was a nuisance. I found out how to deactivate it and already have so thanks for trying to help.
