I cannot see my administrator account and it's driving me crazy!__Running Windows XP media Center edition
I recently deleted some entries in my registry for my Hewlett-Packard desktop computer and when I rebooted the computer, the only user account I am able to see is labeled, "HP_ administrator" and underneath it it says "Guest Account." I know I screwed something up when I deleted some registry entries which I did because I had previously allowed access to my computer from Verizon to help me set up my DSL service and I wanted to delete all files having to do with accessing my computer. Evidently I shouldn't have done this because I've screwed up my system.I do not have any start up CD or passwords and feel as though I am up the creek. I hope I have asked this question in detail so that I could get some help because I cannot even change the time on my computer clock because I do not have "administrator privileges".Any help I can get with this would be hugely appreciated!

Perhaps a System Restore can undo the changes you made and put you back to where you were before that started. I'm not 100% certain this is possible without administrator priviledges, but it's worth a try. If it doesn't work in normal mode, boot into saffe mode and try it from there instead. Do you know when this problem began? Try a System Restore to a point in timeBEFORE the problem began (and give it some leeway if you can). Here's the procedure:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306084. If the first attempt fails, then try an earlier point or two. NOTE: You will have to re-install any software and updates you installed between now and the restore point, but you can use Windows Update for the updates.I hope this helps. If not, please repost as previously suggested in the XP Forums for further assistance.Good luck!Lorien - MCSE/MCSA/Network+/A+ --- If this post helps to resolve your issue, please click the "Mark as Answer" or "Helpful" button at the top of this message.
