Hi kandshill,· Did you make any software or hardware changes on the machine prior to this issue?· Are you able to open other items in Control Panel?· What happens when you try to download iTunes?Let’s follow these methods & check if it helps.Method 1a) Click on Start > Run and paste the following command then press enter. %SYSTEMROOT%\SYSTEM32\appwiz.cplb) Check if you are able to open Add & Remove programs from Control Panel.Method 2You may also reregister the APPWIZ.CPL file.a. Type ‘cmd’ in the start search box > right-click on Command Prompt > click Run as Administrator. b. Type Regsvr32 <space> appwiz.cpl.c. Click the OK button.Method 3You may also boot the computer into ‘safemode’ and check if the issue persists. It will start Windows XP with a limited set of files and drivers. Startup programs do not run in safe mode, and only the basic drivers needed to start Windows are installed, follow the steps to boot the computer in safe mode:a. Restart the computer.b. Start tapping F8 key.c. You will get advanced boot option window.d. Select the option “Safe mode”.For more information, refer this link:A description of the Safe Mode Boot options in Windows XPHope the information helps.
