I cannot delete programs out of the start up menu in msconfig?
I am trying to get my computer to boot faster by clearing my start up programs by going to start - run - msconfig - start up, and unchecking all programs I do not use, BUT... in the same start up list in "msconfig" I see programs that I have deleted by going to start - control panel - add/remove programs. I do not know why these DELETED programs are still listed in my start up when I go to MSCONFIG?1 person got this answerI do too

Hello J.Carlson If you want to remove inactive entries from msconfig you have to edit the registry. Please be very careful if you decide to do this. Backup the registry before making any changes. Start/Run and type in regedit OK When regedit opens File/Export. Give it a name you will recognise again, and save it on the hard drive Then navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\startupfolder. You'll find a subkey for each disabled item. Only delete the entries for the disabled programs And also HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run. In the right pane, delete the value for MSConfig..
